Sexism In Politics

It's a tale as old as time. Woman has to jump through hoops and look impeccable while doing so while a man can just stand there and still be considered more qualified than her just because she's a woman.

It's election season and you know what that means: Mud slinging and public outcry from all sides. Now, I'm not going to be talking about my own political views here. That's not what this is about. But anyone who spends any amount of time on this blog can pretty much tell where I stand on the political spectrum. It's not hard to see. No, the thing that I want to talk about is gender equality and the rampant sexism that we're seeing in this election. It's so blatant that there's no way anyone could pretend not to see it.

Hillary Clinton is more than qualified to run for president. Hell, she's probably one of the most qualified nominees we've ever seen. But that doesn't matter, right? No, because everyone seems hellbent on making it seem like she has no idea what she's talking about and no one wants to say why that is. Well, I'm going to say it. It's because she's woman. There's no getting around it. Trump is probably the worst candidate we've ever had but because he doesn't have a uterus he can get away with anything and people will stay say they're not sold on Hillary. It makes me feel like I'm losing my mind, and with the way this election has been going I may very well be.

It's a classic case of: "Watch this woman have to work one hundred  times harder than this man and still be considered sub par!" I'm disgusted having to watch this circus go on and see all these people buy into the rumors and the lies being told about Hillary. And we all know they're lies, we all know. But people will believe it because they're either too ignorant to know better or they just don't want to support her.

Not to mention all of the giant babies who are choosing to vote third party just because their nominee of choice didn't win. Yeah, throw a hissy fit and ruin the country because you can't get your way. That's nice. If ever there was a time to take the election seriously, this is it! We don't have time for this. The wrong choice can lead to the end of the world as we know it. Or just the end of the world period. But some of us refuse to see that.

Look, some would say that because I'm a woman that I'm seeing subtext where there is none. But no, I'm not. I know what I'm seeing and it's not just a complete and utter injustice it just proves what we as women already know. We'll never be good enough. Even when we're one of the best there is.
