What Has America Done?

So, on the 20th of January 2017 Donald Trump will be inaugurated as the new president of the United States of America. Let that sink in for moment. Just feel the dread, the panic, the discomfort of that. If you don't feel those things in relation to this turn of events, I think it's safe to say that you're either extremely ignorant of the world around you or you're a knowing sexist, Islamophobic, homophobic, xenophobic, racist jerk. Point blank. I hate to be so blunt but I have to. Either you don't know or you do and you don't care because you wanted to bring chaos to not only our country but the rest of the world because of your personal hang ups with people who aren't like you.

I can do nothing but shake my head and shed a tear not only for myself but for the billions of people who will be affected by this dark time in history. It's really startling when you realize just how much hate there is in this world. Like, before I knew, but now I really know. I truly see the world for what it really is. I knew we had work to do as people but I didn't see the magnitude of our issues. I could not comprehend the size of our problems. Just when we're on the right track people let their prejudices drive them to torpedo all of the progress that we've had in the eight years we've spent under the Obama administration. No, people choose to not continue the uphill trajectory but to drag ourselves all the way back down and maybe even further than that. You think Bush was bad? Wait until you get a load of Trump and Pence. We're all really going to suffer this time. You know, if this country doesn't tear itself apart first. Which, with racial and religious tensions at an all time high and Trump fanning the flames we aren't far off from that either.

And I know, I know I could end up in deep trouble for even writing this. I could end up on the wrong end of a jail cell for speaking my mind because in Trump land you have no freedom of speech. You have no rights. This is a dictatorship now and he will eliminate ANYONE who doesn't fall in line with his ideologies and his way. But I refuse to shut up and I refuse to be stop screaming out. I have a right to be angry.

Look at what he's doing right now. He's going at a medal of freedom recipient. Someone who walked with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Who fought for civil rights. Civil rights that if his administration gets their way, will be taken away, destroyed. He's trying to start a beef with John Lewis and to think that we're this close to Black History Month as he's doing this. This man has no shame, he has no remorse, he has no feeling for anyone. He just says the most outrageous thing he can think of because he wants attention. He's like a petulant child. Except we're not able to ignore him because he's going to be president. It's like a nightmare that you can't escape no matter how hard you try.

The only thing we can do now is keep fighting, keep shouting out, keep pointing out his flaws. Be so loud that we can't be ignored. Don't allow yourself to be muzzled or shut down. I'm not. I'll always find a way to speak my mind. I hope the same for all of you.
