Yep, that's right. While we were too busy paying attention to Trump crying wolf about Obama wiretapping Trump Towers (Seriously...) the rest of the snakes were slithering their way to more oppression. They snuck their way past and moved forward with some very damaging bills that they're trying to put into action. You better sit down for this list of travesties. It's really nothing new but when I break down the destruction we're possibly heading towards, it'll make your head spin. The first is H.R. 861 which is to terminate The EPA aka The Environmental Protection Agency. Our planet is suffering enough and it's only getting worse as time goes on. Without the EPA to keep things in check, the issues we're currently facing are only going to accelerate at a higher momentum, bringing about unprecedented damage to our ecosystems and wildlife. Well, he was sworn in. It's official. Donald Trump is the new president of the United States and I don't know whether to scream in anger or crumble into a lump of anxiety. Maybe I'll do both, who knows? What I do know is that we're in for an infuriating and scary four years. He's already trying to erase all the progress we've made as a country. The healthcare, civil rights,LGBT,climate change, and poverty sections were removed from the White House website. Apparently those issues mean nothing to our new leader. How lovely... If that's not an omen of bad things to come, I don't know what is. And to think, people are asking that we give this man a chance. He's already made it clear that he's coming after free speech. Telling news organizations to "keep their mouths shut" and trying to take away the right to protest. He's making it his personal mission to ban Muslims from entering the country. If there's one thing I hate about being a woman, it's the assumption that we have to wait for change and wait for what we want. Can't get married because we have to be proposed to. Load of bull, if you feel like your relationship isn't progressing you propose to your partner. The worst thing that could happen is they say no and if just being together isn't enough for you then it's time to move on. Can't have kids because you have to wait for a man who wants kids. No, there are so many children who need homes out there. Adoption doesn't have to be a last resort, it can be the key to not only your happiness but the happiness of a child out there who's just waiting for a family to call their own. You can be that for them. Especially older kids who struggle to find families. Can't have your own business or your own empire because you belong at home with the kids. NO. Hell no. It's a tale as old as time. Woman has to jump through hoops and look impeccable while doing so while a man can just stand there and still be considered more qualified than her just because she's a woman. It's election season and you know what that means: Mud slinging and public outcry from all sides. Now, I'm not going to be talking about my own political views here. That's not what this is about. But anyone who spends any amount of time on this blog can pretty much tell where I stand on the political spectrum. It's not hard to see. No, the thing that I want to talk about is gender equality and the rampant sexism that we're seeing in this election. It's so blatant that there's no way anyone could pretend not to see it.
